A9 TREASURY AND CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING RECORDSThe bonds in this class - the largest single group - were given by ships' masters as security against transporting persons from the island without leave or landing individuals in it illegally. The earliest bonds also provide against taking slaves away from the island wihtout the consent of their owner.
